Overview
On this website, you will be able to see the differences and similarities of Antioch, Baghdad, and Dunhuang, three of the well-known commercial cities on the Silk Road. By clicking on the tabs above, you will be led to learn about the various facts of each city. In addition, there is a shortened version, in which it compares all three of them on a chart. They range from aspects of economics to religions. Because I’d like you to see some changes and continuities of each city, the information presented will start all the way from the First Golden Era (Second Century BCE), and will end at the Third Golden Era (Fourteenth Century CE).

I chose to research on the topic of commercial cities for my Asian Studies Project, because the main aspect of the Silk Road is the exchange of goods or ideas. Without these major commercial cities to facilitate whatever that was being traded, it would be a more difficult task for a network as vast as this to exist. |
